About this Site
Moore’s Law defines the history of technology. It held that the number of circuits etched on a given piece of silicon could double every 18 months as far as its author, Intel co-founder Gordon Moore, could see. Moore’s Law has spawned constant revolutions since then, not just in computing but in communications, in science, in a host of areas. Moore’s Law applies to radios, and to optical fiber, but there are some areas where it doesn’t apply. In this blog we’ll take a daily look at new implications of Moore’s Law in real time, as it rolls forward to create our future.

Apple Phone or UMG Phone?

Which is more likely to come out first, an Apple iPod phone or a phone put out by the Universal Music Group? What does that say about the cellular market?

Also, how cold does Hell have to freeze before you're going to buy a phone run by a music publisher? (I think pretty cold.)

Both companies are eventually going to put out a cell phone, unless they realize there may be no market for their phones...then again.. Teenagers are obviously going to buy them for the new-age music that they are [possibly] going to get. Anyway, I think i-Pod phones will come out first. Apple is a bigger name, and they'll probably put it in to motion after seeing Much Music do it. Sure, they're not a music publisher, although they are a music-related company/broadcaster.

I'm pretty sure "music phones" are just for younger people anyway. I highly doubt you'd see someone in an important business playing with a Much Music phone, so it's probably going to be the same if Apple or Universal Music Group releases them. :)
