A sad day

Who would have thought that this would be something we'd have to state explicitly?

David,
Do you think it's a little over-the-top in a Michael Moore-ish sorta way (actually a little more of the "Super-Size Me" variety of staged social commentary) that the most startling pictures are that young female soldier making fun of nekked Iraqi prisoners? Especially that it was photographed?
I'm sure it sounds like a stretch now, but I think this was intentional and the intention was to humiliate these thugs (the prisoners) the worst way possible in their cultural context. If torture was the goal, it's a lot easier to inflict pain and requires a lot less creativity and zero sense of irony.
And frankly, if the thug segment in Iraq is worried about being caught and having their manhood ridiculed in front of a digital camera to be shown to the world, and that thug segment stops attacking our soldiers, then someone needs to be awarded a medal.
Yeah, it sounds like a stretch, but check back in a month and see if our casualty rate isn't down a whole bunch. This isn't as big an outrage as it looks.
